Skyler Palermo continued to stay hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 and was a home run shy of the cycle, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to No. 14 West Texas A&M 25-7 in Canyon.
The Falcons (14-26) had runners on second and third in the first inning but couldn't push a run across. In their half of the inning the Buffs (36-8) scored three on a home run before adding three more in the second to go up 6-0. The Falcons rallied in the third to get back in the ballgame.Â
Andrew Donovan opened the frame with a single and came around to score on a
Pemron Burrows triple.Â
Tylor Frailey reached on an error that brought in Burrows before Palermo tripled to center making it 6-3. Two batters later
Alex Wixson singled in a run and after two-and-a-half innings the Falons trailed 6-4. Â
In the bottom of the inning the Buffs scored seven unearned runs to expand their lead. The Falcons answered in the fourth with a pair of runs. Palermo drove in Burrows with a double and he came around to score on a single by
Peyton Koopman. Koopman would hit a solo home run in the seventh, his third of the season.
Burrows, Palermo and Koopman all finished with multi-hit games and combined for four extra base hits. Palermo no has his season average up to .331 and is now batting .385 since the beginning of March, a span of 30 games.
The Falcons return home next week to take on Cameron in a four-game series, the final home series of the season, beginning Friday.
