Following yesterday's shutout,
Tanner Rhodes threw six shutout innings leading UT Permian Basin to a 3-0 win over Cameron, before the game was called after the sixth inning because of rain.
The Falcon (7-10) got off on the right foot striking in the top of the first. A pair of walks and a
Jonathan Bermudez single loaded the bases with one out.
Skyler Palermo would bring in
Pemron Burrows with a sacrifice fly for the early lead. After a hit batter loaded the bases again,
Dalton Castillo worked a walk to go up 2-0. That was all the run support starter
Tanner Rhodes would need on the afternoon.
After the Aggies (9-12) stranded a pair of runners in the second inning the Falcons added to their lead in the third. After singles by
Tyler Vlasek and
Hayden Matthewson,
Andrew Donovan would reach on an error allowing Vlasek to score making it 3-0. Rhodes ran into trouble in the fifth inning. An error and two walks loaded the bases with just one out before the freshman got out of the inning on a double play. After neither side scored in the sixth the game was called due to rain.
Rhodes struck out five over six shutout innings allowing just two hits, both in the second inning, earning his second win on the season.
Peyton Koopman, Castillo and Matthewson all reached base twice in the rain shortened affair.
The Falcons return home next weekend to take on Tarleton State to gear up for Lone Star Conference play.
