Falcons Return for Final Homestand, Look to Send Seniors Out on High Note

UT Permian Basin returns home this week to wrap-up their season against Texas A&M – Commerce and Tarleton State, with Saturday being Senior Day and the First Basin Credit Union Orange Out.
 
The Falcons will honor three seniors on Saturday; Khali Pippins-Tryon, Sarah Bersang and Chynna Rivera.  Pippins-Tryon has been the team's leading scorer the last two seasons.  This season the senior has 334 points for a 13.4 ppg average.  She has been on a scoring tear of late with at least 20 points in three of the last four games including a 31 point outburst against MSU Texas that leads all Lone Star Conference players this season.  Pippins-Tryon currently ranks 10th in scoring in program history with 693 career points.
 
Bersang is second on the team in scoring with 9.2 ppg in her only season in black and orange.  The transfer from Horsens, Denmark is also averaging 3.4 rebounds per game and leads the team by a mile with 71 assists.  The final senior is Chynna Rivera.  After playing sparingly last season, Rivera has broken out playing in all 25 games and starting in 14.  The senior is second on the team in made threes and second in three-point percentage, only behind Pippins-Tryon.  Rivera is also third in assists behind her fellow seniors Pippins-Tryon and Bersang.
 
Texas A&M – Commerce comes into the final week of the regular season at 17-9, and tied with Tarleton State for fourth in the Lone Star Conference at 12-6.  The Lions split last week in their final home games of the season with Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M.  They are led by Princess Davis and Chania Wright, each averaging over 13 points per game.  Ekaterina Zhibareva is nearly averaing double figures with 9.7 ppg.  Agang Tac leads the way on the boards with 6.5 per game in just 17.7 minutes per game on the season.
 
Tarleton State comes in at 19-7 overall and seventh in the most recent South Central Regional rankings.  Like Commerce, the Texanns split last week's final home games, defeating Eastern New Mexico and falling to West Texas A&M.  By defeating West Texas A&M earlier in the season, the Texanns currently hold the tiebreaker over the Lions for the fourth seed in the LSC Tournament.  They are led offensively by Mackenzie Hailey with 15.1 ppg and her 7.1 rpg.  McKinley Bostad (14.8 ppg), Kaylee Allen (14.4 ppg) and Katie Webster (10.4 ppg) all average more than 10 a game for the Texanns, while no other player scores more than four. 
 
On Saturday, UT Permian Basin will be honoring the three seniors from women's basketball and the one from men's basketball between the two games.  Saturday is also the First Basin Credit Union Orange Out game and fans are asked to wear orange to the game.  There is also a tailgate with food provided by the Permian Cajuns.
