Falcons Fight Frigid Temps in Defensive Battle with ENM

UT Permian Basin fought temperatures in the low 30s as they opened their final week of the season falling to Eastern New Mexico 1-0.

The Falcons (1-13-1) had chances early, firing five shots with two landing on goal.  Despite the offense push from the Falcons, it was the Greyhounds (8-7-1) who scored first on a long shot from Desiree Morgas and the game went into the half with the Falcons trailing 1-0.

The Falcons continued to attack the net in the second half.  Deonna Calhoun had a terrific opportunity but hit the crossbar just minutes after Kessie Stocker fired on net.  Stocker had another terrific opportunity in the 72nd minute but was denied by a diving goalkeeper.  Kalia Beckwith had a chance late to tie the game but also couldn't find the back of the net.

As a team the Falcons had 11 shots with six of them on goal.  Stocker had a team-high with four shots and three on goal.  In net Marlise Bond made five saves in the effort.

The Falcons finish the season this Saturday on Senior Day as they take on West Texas A&M starting at 7.
