Horn Heats Up From Three to Close Out DII Tip Off Classic

Box Score UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball picked up its first win of the 2019-20 season as Jordan Horn hit 50 percent from 3-point range and four players scored in double figures in an 82-62 victory over Wayne State at the DII Tip Off Classic in Orange, Calif.

Jordan Horn led the Falcons with 11 points on 3-7 shooting from 3-point range in the first half as the Falcons held Wayne State to 9-31 shooting in the first half, including just 1-14 from 3-point range in taking a 37-28 lead at halftime.

"I thought our team really grew over this weekend," said Head Coach Josh Newman. "The quality of teams was exceptional and it was great to compete with potential NCAA Tournament teams. We really made some strides offensively and more importantly defensively with each game. We know this weekend will have a significant impact on what we are able to achieve this weekend."

Horn ended the night with 19 points, hitting 4-8 from 3-point range and 7-15 from the field with four rebounds. 

Pat Dembley added 15 points with five rebounds and five assists on the night.

Miles Washington scored 14 points with six rebounds while shooting 7-10 from the field on the day. 

Carson Newsome added 10 points with a team-best six assists on 3-4 shooting. 

The Falcons are back home next weekend for the first time next season, hosting Western State Colorado Friday night at 7 p.m.
