Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Freshmen Dazzle as Falcons Win Third Straight

Another night, another freshman leading the way for UT Permian Basin Women's Basketball.  Tonight it was Jordan Rogers with a team-high 18 points to pace the offense.  Fellow freshman Rory Carter continued her hot shooting going for 16 points along with six rebounds.  The Falcons went on the cruise to an 80-64 victory over Sul Ross State.

Both teams struggled to grab the lead to start the game but Jada Berry's jumper with 11 seconds left put the Falcons (3-2) in front of the Lobos (1-3) 16-14.  The Lobos used a hot start in the second quarter to grab a six point lead, but after that it was all Falcons.  Back to back buckets by Lemia Ntor-Ue before back to back threes by Carter and another three by Kayla Galindo put the Falcons up seven.  A pair of Galindo free throws pushed the lead to nine.  Rogers had a five-point run to stretch the lead to 12 and the teams went into the half with that margin with the Falcons up 45-33.

The Lobos got the lead down to seven but the Falcons answered with a three by Rogers who then scored on a fast break.  Alexus Quaadman's lay-up put the Falcons back up by 14.  The Falcons coasted from there taking the lead by as many as 23 before the final buzzer sounded.

Galindo was also in double figures with 11 points along with four rebounds.  Kristian James picked up seven points along with seven assists.  The Falcon bench did a lot of damage scoring 32 points, including Rogers 18.

The Falcons head into Lone Star Conference play this weekend when they take on Western New Mexico with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
