Dembley, Horn Each Score At Least 20 as Falcons Challenge No. 23 Concordia Irvine

Pat Dembley scored 22 and Jordan Horn scored 20 in their Falcon debuts as the Falcons furious second half comeback fell just short against No. 23 Concordia Irvine.  The Falcons trailed by as many as 26 before falling short 92-86.  Horn and Dembley led the charge with each scoring 18 points in the second half.

The Falcons (0-1) came out of the gates snagging the early lead, hitting their first three shots of the contest.  The Eagles (1-0) responded with a run of their own, suddenly taking an 11-point lead.  They continued to push the lead eventually head into the half with the Falcons trailing 50-27.

After an early Eagle run in the second half, the Falcon offense came to life.  Horn knocked down a couple of lay-ups before hitting a three.  After a foul, Dembley sank three free throws to get the deficit under 20.  He caught fire draining a three and hitting a lay-up for a personal 8-0 run.  Carson Newsome drilled a three to to make it 60-49 with 14:04 to go.  Horn hit a jumper and Elvin Rodriguez drained a three to get the deficit down to just nine.  Back to back Eagle threes pushed their lead back up but the Falcons continued to battle.  A five point Dembley run and a Newsome lay-up brought the lead down to four.  The teams traded buckets until Horn's three with two to go made it 85-82.  That was as close as the Falcons could get as free throws sealed the game down the stretch.

Horn was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine to go along with his 20 points.  Newsome finished the night with 13 points and six rebounds while Miles Washington added in 11 points and six rebounds.

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow as they take on Ferris State at 7:30 CT.
