In his first action in over a year,
Stefan Faria dazzled in his return scoring once and assisting on another as the Falcons played Dallas Baptist University.
The Falcons (4-8-1) controlled the pace early before the Patriots (2-10-1) went on the counter attack firing three shots on goal. Faria checked in and immediately gave the Falcons a chance to score but his header was saved. He had another chance later firing on net but was stopped as well. In the 44th minute, just before the half,
Salvador Vargas Ramos scored his team-leading fourth goal to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
DBU scored twice in the span of just a minute to jump ahead 2-1 in the second half. The game remained that way until the 75th minute when Faria drew a foul about a yard outside the box. Taking the free kick, Faria found the back corner of the net for the equalizer and knotted the game at two. Both defenses held throught the extra 20 minutes for tthe 2-2 draw.
In net,
Alfonso Aragon made seven saves in the effort. As a team the Falcons fired 17 shots with Faria leading the way with six, four landing on goal.
The Falcons are back in action next Saturday when they take on UT Tyler at 1 p.m.
