The UT Permian Basin defense was stout in holding Texas A&M International scoreless for 110 minutes in what ended in a scoreless draw in double overtime.
The Dustdevils (2-6-2) had the first opportunity in just the second minute of the contest but came away empty handed on the
Marlise Bond save. A few minutes later the Falcons (0-9-1, 0-6-1) had their first opportunity but
Deonna Calhoun's attempt was saved.
Ariel Roybal had a terrific chance but her shot hit the crossbar. Both defenses settled in not allowing many chances in the offensive zone for either side. The Falcons next best chance came late but
Kessie Stocker's shot missed wide left.
The Falcons had by far the best chance in the second half. Calhoun tried to chip a shot over the charging goalkeeper, but the keeper caught just enough of it to deflect it away. Kalie Beckwith had a shot on goal later in the half as well but was stopped. Neither offense got much going in the overtime periods as each registered one shot a piece to play to the draw.
Bond had four saves to post her first shutout of the season. The Falcons had 10 shots as a team with Stocker, Calhoun, and Beckwith leading the way with two a piece.
Just three home games remain as the Falcons play St. Mary's at home Saturday with kick-off at 1.
