Alfonso Aragon made a career-high 10 saves Saturday afternoon as UT Permian Basin took on St. Edward's in Austin. It wasn't enough as the Falcon offense couldn't find the net as they fell 3-0.
Aragon was sharp early for the Falcons (3-8, 1-4) making three saves in the first 20 minutes of action. He'd stop two more before a red card put the Falcons down a man for the remainder of the match. The Falcons dug in on defense down a man, allowing shots from the Hilltoppers (3-5-2) but Aragon kept them out of the net, heading into the half tied at zeroes.
The Falcons couldn't get the offense early in the second half, going on the defensive. The Toppers attacked the net and finally broke through with the game's first goal in the 67
th minute. The teams continued to battle deep in the game before the Toppers scored in the 86
th and 89
th minutes to put the game away.
The Falcons return home next week as they'll take on Lubbock Christian on Thursday before a Saturday showdown with Dallas Baptist University.
