Four Falcons Score in Shutout Win Over DBU

UT Permian Basin got back in the win column as their offense broke out in a 4-0 routing of Dallas Baptist University in which four different Falcons scored a goal.  The win comes after last night's game got washed out with the Falcons leading in the first half of the contest.

Neither offense could get going early on, with the first shot coming off the foot of Alex Clark nearly 10 minutes into the match.  In the 12th minute the Falcons (3-7, 1-3) struck first.   After a foul, Henrique DeSouza took the free kick which was deflected passed the goalkeeper by Gregory Echols to take the 1-0 lead.  The Falcons continued to attack the net and broke through again in the 35th minute.  Sebastian Kristofferson scored his second goal of the season with a blast into the bottom right corner giving the Falcons a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Falcons put the Patriots (2-8) away early in the second half after Marvin Tapia found the back of the net.  Tapia had a goal last night get washed out in the postponed game.  Michael Nweke scored in the 68th minute giving the Falcons a resounding 4-0 lead.  The Patriots wouldn't go quietly getting off five second half shots but the defense was up to the task.

For Echols, Tapia and Nweke each scored their first goal of the season.  John Karlsen added a pair of assists on the second and third goals.  Alfonso Aragon posted his first shutout of the season making three saves in net.

The Falcons have a quick turn around tomorrow as they'll take on St. Edward's in Austin.
