It took over 80 minutes to score, but the UT Permian Basin (1-3) women's soccer team broke a scoreless tie to earn their first win of the season at New Mexico Highlands University (0-3), by a score of 1-0.

The first half was relatively uneventful with UTPB only getting off three shots and one on goal, and NMHU getting off four and two on goal.

The game was still tied late into the second half.  With just about eight minutes to play, Ariel Roybal connected on a pass from Kalia Beckwith and put it into the bottom right corner of the net for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 UTPB lead.  NMHU had a chance a few moments later but it was waved off for an offsides.

UTPB only got two shots on goal but made it count.  Raeann Brown stopped all five shots she faced for her first win and shutout on the season.

UTPB is off until next weekend when they have their final tune-up before Lone Star Conference play in Plainview against Wayland Baptist on Saturday.
