The UT Permian Basin women's soccer team dropped their final game before starting Lone Star Conference play to Wayland Baptist 1-0 on Saturday. 

Wayland Baptist scored in the 26th minute on a goal by Estefany Gonzalez that was assisted by Madison McComasky.

UTPB fired off eight shots on goal and 12 shots in the second half but couldn't convert.  Chenoa Crites made seven saves in goal for UTPB.  Lauren Marenco had a team-high four shots, with two on goal.

UTPB opens up conference pay on Wednesday on the road against Angelo State at 7 p.m. before returning home for a 1 p.m. game against MSU Texas.
