A terrific defensive effort wasn't enough as the UT Permian Basin men's soccer (1-8, 0-5) team fell to #4 MSU Texas (7-0-1, 4-0-1) 2-0.
The Falcon defense started strong without allowing MSU Texas to get anything going for the first 15 minutes of action. They were able to break through though in the 29th minute when Rory O'Keeffe headed in a corner kick for the 1-0 Mustang lead. The defense would stay strong not allowing another goal.
The Mustangs would score a second goal on a penalty kick in the second half by O'Keeffe to make it 2-0. The Falcons weren't able to break through despite getting two shots on goal.Â
Jameson Sato made seven stops in goal in his first start of the season.
UTPBÂ is home again on Saturday when they take on Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m. before heading on the road to continue Heartland Conference play next week.
