Women's Soccer Opens Conference Play

This week the UT Permian Basin women's soccer team opens Lone Star Conference play on the road against Angelo State before coming home to play MSU Texas on Sunday. 

UTPB only played one game last week, in Plainview against Wayland Baptist.  Estefany Gonzalez sored in the first half for Wayland in the 26th minute.  UTPB had 12 shots in the second half and eight on goal for the game but it wasn't enough as they fell 1-0.  Their record sits at 1-4 heading into conference play.

Last week Angelo State went to overtime twice in their pair of home games.  On Friday they played to a tie after two overtimes with Southwestern Oklahoma State for a 4-4 tie.  Angelo State led 3-2 at the half by SW Oklahoma scored early in the half before scoring in the 82nd minute to grab a 4-3 lead.  Just 1:15 later, Angelo State tied it on a goal from Cassandra Moosburger to make it 4-4. 
Angelo State needed overtime to defeat East Central on Sunday.  Angelo State scored early before giving up an own goal to tie it at one.  Just 19 seconds into the overtime period Trenadey Scott found the back of the net for the 2-1 win.  They are led on offense by Moosburger and Scott who each have three goals apiece.

MSU Texas is currently 1-3-1 on the season with their lone win coming in their opening game against New Mexico Highlands.  MSU opened the week at Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday.  Oklahoma Baptist scored twice in the first half then held on for the 2-0 win.  On Sunday MSU had a 1-0 lead over Southwestern Oklahoma State before the game was called due to lightning and the game was not official.  MSU plays Angelo State on Friday before traveling to Odessa on Sunday.  They are led on offense by Senna Garcia with two goals on the season.
