Despite having opportunities in the first half, UT Permian Basin (1-5, 0-2) men's soccer team fell to West Texas A&M (4-1-1, 1-1) 3-0 at home on Saturday.
Both teams had their chances in the first half. They combined for 10 shots on goal with UTPB getting four on goal. UTPB had chances first with
Santi Morales getting a shot on goal just 1:34 into the game.Â
Jordan Bradley had a chance to head one in off a corner but was blocked by an WT defender. Their best chance came when
Oscar Canela fought on a fast break and floated one but it went just wide of the goal.
UTPBÂ opened the second half with a chance by
Ollie Grundy but his shot hit the side of the net. WT was finally abe to break the scoreless tie when Callum Challinor connected on a shot from the left side of the box. Michael Garcia and Harry McGrath would add goals less than six minutes apart to push the lead to 3-0.Â
Jordan Brown made 13 saves in goal for UTPB.
UTPB heads east for a pair of Heartland Conference match-ups next week. They take on St. Edward's on Thursday before taking on Dallas Baptist on Saturday.
