The UT Permian Basin women's soccer team dropped its season opener to Colorado Mesa 3-0 in Odessa.

Both teams had chances in the first half.  UTPB registered six shots and two on goal in the first 45 minutes while Colorado Mesa had five shots with two on goal.

The game remained scoreless until Colorado Mesa broke through in the second half.  Lexi Newton tapped it in off of a cross from Alexis Allard to open the scoring.  Just a few minutes later Allard scored one of her own off a cross by Mackenzie King.  King added another assist on a through ball to Ryanne Parker who scored to make it 3-0 Colorado Mesa.

UTPB had their chances in the second half including back to back corner kicks but was unable to capitalize.

UTPB finishes its opening weekend on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Texas A&M International before hitting the road next week.
