While the game started back and forth UTPB struck first.
Jorge Murillo blasted a shot before it was saved by Dixie State goalkeeper Zach Nielson. Nielson could not handle to rebound and
Jacob Tellez was there to put it in the back of the net to give UTPB a 1-0 lead 43:01 into the game. Dixie State would have a chance less than a minute later on a shot by Julius Nguyen but it was saved by
Lucas Gomes.
UTPB had opportunities early in the second half with two corner kicks but could not capitalize on the chances. Dixie State had chances as well when Idris Alabi's header sailed just wide left and a strike from Daniel Brubaker hit the post. Dixie State kept attacking the net until Moises Medina tied up the score off a cross from Brubaker 79:14 into the game.
The game would remain tied into overtime. Less than a minute into the second overtime period, Ricky Nunez's foot found a loose ball in front of the net for the game-winner.
