UT Permian Basin men's basketball coach Josh Newman released his team's 2018-19 schedule Tuesday afternoon, and his new team will be tested early and often in Newman's first season as a Falcon.

This season sees the Falcons taking on a pair of Division I opponents in exhibition contests. A trip to El Paso for a Nov. 6 game at UTEP will be the first game for each team's respective coach. The Falcons will head to the west coast a month later for a Dec. 5 gamee against Pacific in Stockton, Calif.

UTPB kicks off the regular season with a pair of games against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents, going on the road for games at Western State Colorado and Adams State Nov. 9 & 10, respectively.

The next weekend the Falcons play their third and fourth games on the road against St. Mary's and Texas A&M International of the Heartland Conference. 

"Our schedule this season sets us up to find out what kind of team we have early on in the year," said Newman. "Playing a pair of games against teams that will want to make up for last year, plus two more games against teams from the Heartland that we know how they're going to play and vise versa, then adding that all four are on the road will show what we're made of right away."

The Falcons return Nov. 21 for their home opener against Sul Ross the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Other home non-conference games include contests against Out Lady of the Lake, University of the Southwest, Arlington Baptist and Jarvis Christian.

UTPB opens Lone Star Conference action Dec. 8 at home against Western New Mexico and caps the regular season at home with games against Texas A&M Commerce and Tarleton State before the Lone Star Conference Championships March 7-10.
