Box Score 2 Owen Bessette allowed one earned run over seven innings and Alex Wixson drove in four runs as UT Permian Basin baseball picked up a 6-2 win over #19 Texas A&M Kingsville Saturday afternoon in the first of two games against the Javelinas at Nolan Ryan Field in Kingsville, Texas. TAMUK returned to win game two 7-5 Saturday night.
Dalton Drury put the Falcons on the scoreboard in UTPB's half of the second with a home run ro left field on a 2-2 pitch for a 1-0 lead.
Tied 1-1 two innings later, Wixson went deep to right field with Drury on base for a 3-1 lead.
Wixson drove in two more runs in the top of the sixth, plating Drury and
Mike Fernandez with a double to right field that gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead.
Andrew Donovan made it a four-run lead with a single to right that drove in Wixson for his second run of the game.
Bessette improved to 2-3 on the season, giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits and a pair of walks. He struck out three on the afternoon.
The Falcons rode the long ball in game two, starting off scoring in game two with a two-run blast by
Simon Clarke in the top of the second.
Kingsville tied the game with a two-run shot of its own in the bottom half of the frame, and scored the next five runs to put together seven straight runs to lead 7-2.
A Drury moonshot to left field in the fourth made the score 7-3, and Drury added two more RBI in the top of the 6th with a double that scored Fernandez and
Tylor Frailey.
