Breanna Smith limited UT Permian Basin softball to just a pair of hits Friday night as the hometown Javelinas went off for eight runs on nine hits in an 8-0 win in five innings at Hubert Field in Kingsville, Texas, to open a three-game series.

Loren Kelly ended the night with three hits in three at bats at the top of the Kingsville  lineup, scoring twice on the night.

Adrianna Berzoza and Aubree Avila each had a hit for the Falcons, who struck out eight times in the game.

Smith walked none over five innings in improving to 8-3 on the season.

Sloan Springfield was charged with six runs, five earned, on seven hits and a pair of walks in two innings pitched.
