UT Permian Basin (12-27, 1-17) was overpowered in a double header with #14 West Texas A&M (29-5, 12-3) on Friday. The Lady Buffs swept the double header with a 13-0 and 9-0 win.
WT started fast against the Falcons. Ashley Hardin led off with a home run to start w six run first inning the included home runs by Allie Smith and Stevie McLemore. WT would score three in the second and two in the third to make it 11-0. They would homer again in the fourth before scoring another run on a double for the 13-0 victory. UTPB could only manage five hits off starting pitcher Shayne Starkey who improved to 11-0. Sloan Springfield took the loss to drop to 2-11. Jessica Gonzales added a double for the Falcons.
WT continued in the second game with a four run first inning. Kylee Moore would homer in the third to make it 5-0 which was followed later in the inning with another home run this time by Shanna McBroom to make it 8-0. WT would add another run in the fourth for the 9-0 victory. Gonzales led the Falcons with a pair of hits out of the four they had as a team. Maritza Rojas took the loss to drop to 5-8 on the season while Kilee Halbert improved to 14-4 on the season with the win.
UTPB returns home for a four game conference series with Western New Mexico starting Friday with a double header in Odessa.
