UT Permian Basin fell 11-1 to #11 Texas A&M – Commerce on Saturday in Commerce.
UTPB jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first inning. Sam Medina was hit by a pitch and Maritza Rojas reached on an error with one out. Adrianna Berzoza singled in Medina to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
Commerce would answer back by getting the first four batters to reach to tie the game. Bri Sims then hit a grand slam to make it a 5-1 game. Commerce would add two more in the inning to make it 7-1. They would add to the lead in the second inning with another grand slam this time by Kayla Kilcrease.
Berzoza led the UTPB offense going 3-3 with the RBI. Rojas and Jessica Gonzalez each added a hit. Aubree Avila took the loss to drop her record to 2-2 while Katie Dean improved her record to 10-1. Sloan Springfield pitched a scoreless inning in relief for the Falcons.
UTPB travels to Alpine to take on Sul Ross in a double-header on Monday before returning home for a three-game set with Eastern New Mexico starting Friday
