#20 UT Permian Basin men's basketball has one final tuneup before the NCAA Tournament, playing this upcoming weekend at the 2018 Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Championships, at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. UTPB entered last year the regular season Lone Star Conference Champion and won games against Midwestern State, Texas A&M - Commerce and Angelo State to win both the regular season and tournament championships in their first season as a Lone Star member.

UTPB finished conference play 14-4, repeating their same record from their 2017 LSC Regular Season Championship, and head into the championships the #2 seed with a quarterfinals game Friday afternoon against #7 Midwestern State.
The Falcons (22-5, 14-4) picked up a pair of wins in the regular season against Midwestern State (11-17), winning at home 88-71 behind 28 points from Daeshon Francis on Jan. 6. Josh Morris scored 27 points and Francis added 24 a month later on Feb. 8 when UTPBÂ scored seven points in the final 37 seconds of a 79-76 road win in Wichita Falls.

The winner of Friday afternoon's contest will play the winner of #3 Tarleton State and #6 Cameron. That semi-finals game will tip off at 6 p.m. Saturday night.
