13th-ranked UT Permian Basin men's basketball wrapped up its 2017-18 home schedule with an undefeated 15-0 record Saturday night with a 92-78 win over Texas A&M - Kingsville.
In a game in which it never trailed, UTPBÂ got combined shooting of 12-13 from the field by Daeshon Francis and Josh Morris in the first half as each scored 16 points to lead 51-29.
James McPherson heated up after halftime, hitting four 3-pointers in the second half to lead the Falcons with 15 points in the final 20 minutes and help push UTPB out to a 31-point, 80-39 lead with 8:30 to play.
UTPB had four players score in double-figures, led by Francis with a game-high 24 points on 8-10 shooting with five assists. Morris also hit 8-10 from the field to add 22 points.
McPherson ended the game with 18 points, and Sammy Allen had a double-double. The NCAA-leader in defensive rebounds grabbed 14 boards, 12 on the defensive end, to go with 14 points and five assists.
Caelan Neal led the Javelinas with 20 points, one of four Texas A&M - Kingsville players in double digits in points.
The Falcons enter an important stretch to end the season. Ranked second in the first South Central Region rankings and tied in the Lone Star Conference at 14-2 with West Texas A&M, both teams travel for games at Tarleton State and Texas A&M - Commerce this coming week before the Lone Star Conference Championships beginning on March 2.
