The UT Permian Basin Falcon defense held for 108 minute before falling to Eastern New Mexico 1-0 in double overtime on Sunday.
The Greyhounds (5-4-2, 3-2-1) peppered the net all day. They registered 12 shots with six of them on goal. Falcon goalkeeper
Chenoa Crites was up to the task stopping all of them and keeping the Greyhounds from getting any rebound chances. The Falcon (1-10, 0-6) offense was unable to get any offense going, but played terrific defense.
The Falcons offense was able to push forward more in the second half getting chances but were unable to capitalize. The Greyhounds had a chance to take the lead but Anahi Hernandez's shot was tipped above the net by Crites who was brilliant all day. Neither team ws able to get anything going in th first overtime period. In the second Crites made two more great saves to keep the Falcons in it. Right at the 108 minute mark, Kayara Zuniga trickled a loose ball into the net off of a set piece and the game winner. Crites finished the match with 10 saves.
The Falcons continue their homestand next week starting Friday against Texas Woman's and then Sunday against Texas A&M - Commerce.
