UT Permian Basin welcomes Angelo State to Grande Stadium in Midland. This match-up features two of the best passing offenses in the Lone Star Conference. Â The Rams are second averaging 284.1 yards per game with the Falcons sitting in third with 258.3 yards per game. Â
Taylor Null is second in the Lone Star Conference averaging 277.6 yards per game compared to 158.6 yards per game for Ram quarterback Payne Sullins. Â Null has thrown for 1,388 yard on the year to Sullins 1,110 yards, in two less games.
The Rams run for 167.14 yards per game compared to the 108.57 the Falcons average. Â
Marquis Simmons leads the Falcon ground game with 431 yards and is one of three Falcons averaging at least 4.7 yards per carry. Â Tyrese Nathan leads the Rams with 663 yards while averaging 94.71 yards per game. Â In the air
Kristian Brown leads the Falcon receivers with 403 yards and four touchdowns, while
Ben Galaviz leads with 28 receptions and four touchdowns. Â Ayo Lawson leads the Ram attack with 547 yards receiving, just ahead of the 544 yards gained by Keke Chism.
The Falcon offense is averaging 21.43 points per game compared to the 31 the Rams average. Â Both teams are even defensively as the Falcons allow 30 points per game while the Rams allow 29.86 points per game. Â Leading the Falcon defense is

John O'Kelley with seven sacks. Â Grant Aschenbeck paces the Ram defense with 81 tackles and Markus Jones has nine sacks to lead the way. Â

SCOUTING THE RAMS
Angelo State enters week eight coming off a 26-18 loss at home against West Texas A&M. The Rams held an early 7-0 lead on a 30-yard pass from Payne Sullivan to Tyrese Nathan on the first ASU drive of the night, and Angelo State led 7-3 at the completion of the first half. Following a punt return to the end zone by West Texas A&M, Angelo State responded with a 44-yard field goal from Connor Flannigan early in the third quarter to even the game at 10-10.'
The Ram offense was held in check the rest of the night as Angelo State scored just eight more points in the final 24 minutes on a 94-yard kick-off return early in the fourth quarter for the final 28-16 score.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons are coming off a thrilling 36-17 homecoming victory last weekend against Humboldt State.
Freshman quarterback
Taylor Null had a career night, throwing for 430 yards on 31-48 passing for four touchdowns. He set individual records in passing yards, completions and touchdowns in a game for the Falcons.
On their second drive of the game, the Falcon offense broke open a big play to get on the scoreboard. Â Null found
Kristian Brown for the 57-yard catch and run for the first touchdown of the night. Brown would then take the direct snap for the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. Â After stopping the Jacks on the ensuing drive, the Falcons would drive down the field once again. Â Null hit
Adrian Walker for a 25-yard play to set-up the Falcons in the red zone, and Walker finished off the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run to put the Falcons ahead 15-0 after the first quarter. Â The Falcons held the Jacks to just two first downs and out-gained them 166 yards to 48 in the first 15 minutes.
Baylon Ware broke down the field untouched five minutes into the second half, out-running a pair of defenders for a 62-yard touchdown from Null to put the Falcons ahead 22-3.
The UT Permian Basin offense added two more throwing scores in the second half when Null connected with
Mitchell Leonard from 23-yards out to the front corner of the end zone, and then found a streaking
Ben Galaviz across the middle of the field for a 41-yard TD.
Galaviz ended the night with eight catches for 92 yards to lead all UTPB receivers.
Marquis Simmons led the Falcon ground attack, averaging 6.3 yards per carry on 12 attempts for 75 total yards.
Xavier Brooks and
Jaques Tyler each had an interception for the Falcon defense, while
Keegan Gray led the team with nine total tackles and a sack.
