In a game featuring a combined 38 shots including 13 by the UT Permian Basin Falcons they would fall 3-1 to Newman Saturday in Odessa.
The Jets (7-6-1, 4-5-1) opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Tommy Fiszel cleaned up a rebound in front of the net to make it 1-0. About 15 minutes later the Falcons (1-12-1, 0-9-1) would tie the game.
Jacob Tellez would break down the left side of the pitch and launch a cross in front of the net.
Richard Baguio would head the ball in to tie the score for his second goal of the season. Just 2:13 later Newman would retake the lead on a running header by Ed Jabbari.
The score would remain that way into the second half. Ignacio Lerech would score off a penalty kick to make it 3-1 in favor of Newman. Both teams would each register three shots on goal in the second half with neither team able to find the back of the net. Baguio would finish with three shots on goal while Michael Nweke had three saves in his first appearance in goal for the Falcons.
The Falcons hit the road next week when they take on St. Mary's on Thursday before facing Texas A&M International on Saturday.
