Lady Buffs Too Much for Falcons in 72-36 Loss

Box Score Rebounding and points off of turnovers proved to be costly Tuesday night as #25 West Texas A&M knocked of UT Permian Basin women's basketball 72-36 at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.

UTPB forced West Texas into eight first quarter turnovers, but missed its last nine FG attempts of the quarter as the Lady Buffs ended the first on a 14-0 run over the final six minutes.

Turnovers told the story in the first half. The Falcons committed 14 turnovers while forcing 13 by West Texas A&M, but the Lady Buffs out-scored UTPB 16-0 in points off of turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

UTPB shot just 22 percent in the first half while Lexy Hightower went 6-10 from the field with a pair of three-pointers to lead all players with 14 points in the first.

Khali Pippins-Tryon scored eight of her team-high 11 points in the second half, hitting a pair beyond the arc on the night while also leading UTPB with six rebounds.

Hightower ended the game leading all players with 20 points. West Texas A&M held a 58-21 rebounding advantage, including 19 offensive boards for the game.

UTPB was held under 20 percent shooting in the game (11-58), while West Texas hit 46.3 percent of its shots for the night (25-54).
