UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico each scored a run in the ninth inning of a scheduled seven inning game, but the Greyhounds scored the winning run two innings later in taking a 7-6 win in the bottom of the 11th Saturday in Portales, N.M.
Alex Fernandez bunted in
Dalton Drury from third base in the top of the ninth for his second RBI of the day, but Eastern New Mexico equaled the run with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The Greyhounds then won the game with a one-out double to take the 7-6 win.
UTPB led early on 5-1 after scoring five straight runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Falcons got a two RBI single by Jordan Pritchard and Fernandez drove in his first run of the game with a double down the line to left, and
Tyler Houlihan singled into right for a 5-1 lead.
Eastern New Mexico came back in the nightcap to hold the Falcons to one hit in a 4-0 win in seven innings.
The teams are back Sunday afternoon, closing out the four-game set at 2 p.m.
