Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Nweke , Sproule Help Falcons Blank Lubbock Christian 1-0 on Senior Day

Michael Nweke scored his second goal of the season and goalkeeper Alec Sproule tallied his third straight shutout and fourth clean sheet of the season as UT Permian Basin clinched a spot in the 2017 Heartland Conference Men's Soccer Championships with a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon over Lubbock Christian at the UTPB Turf Field.

UTPB sits tied for 5th place with St. Mary's with two games remaining, seven points ahead of the first team outside of the playoff hunt.

Nweke broke the tie 15 minutes into the second half after a scoreless 45 minutes on an assist from Brandon Lee, one of two player along with Sproule playing in his last home game at UTPB.

Despite being out-shot 15-7 on the day with LCU holding a 7-2 SOG advantage, Nweke's goal in the 61st minute was all the Falcons needed to clinch their postseason appearance.

Sproule heads into the final week with a 7-3 record and has dropped his GAA on the season down to 1.65 with three straight shutouts.

UTPB is on the road next week to close out the regular season, traveling for games at West Texas A&M and LCU next Thursday and Saturday.
