UT Permian Basin volleyball dropped its second straight five-set match Friday night 2-3 against Cameron in Lone Star Conference action.
The Falcons took a 2-1 lead with 26-24 and 25-21 wins in the second and third sets, hitting a match-high .351 in the third set on 16 kills with just three errors to go ahead.
Cameron rallied with its own 21-25 win in the fourth, winning four of the final five points of the set to force a decisive fifth set.
The Aggies scored six of eight points to start off the fifth, and while UTPB closed within trailing by a score of 5-7, a four-point rally gave Cameron an 11-5 edge before claiming the victory 15-9.
Charlesia Jones led a trio of Falcons in double digit kills with 12 on the night, hitting .333 with just a pair of errors.
Caitlyn Guajardo and
Travana Matthews each added 11 kills, Matthews hitting a team-best .402 on the night with two errors on 22 attempts.
Sarah Vasquez led the Falcons with 23 digs, and
Kiera Granado had 29 assists for UTPB.
The Falcons are back Saturday with a road match at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.
