UT Permian Basin men's and women's swimming each picked up a win Friday afternoon at the UTPB Pool as each squad defeated Wayland Baptist. The Falcon women won 130-72, while the men picked up a tighter108-97 victory.
UTPB had a pair of women each win two events on the afternoon.
Anouk van Nellestijn took first in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke with times of 2:18.00 and 1:09.68, respectively, while
Amanda Alspaugh won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.51 and took first in 5:27.68 in the 500 freestyle.
Four more women each won an event for the Falcons as
Hunter Bishop (200 freestyle - 2:00.69),
Bailey Benson (1000 freestyle - 11:35.23), Aly Padilla (100 freestyle - 55.78) and
Ashelen Alvarez (100 backstroke - 1:02.58) took first Friday.
van Nellestijn, Alspaugh, Bishop and
Jennifer Sites took the top spot in the first event of the day, the 400 Medley, in 4:06.98.
Five individuals won for the UTPB men.
Homero Cantu Belmares won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:23.08.
Brandon Hay finished the 50 freestyle in 22.23 to take the top spot.
Patrick Flores won in the 200 IM in 2:01.28.
Jacob Allard finished in 54.28 in the 100 backstroke, and Matthew Hayward won in 5:00.82 in the 500 freestyle.
UTPB is back in action in two weeks, taking on New Mexico State and Grand Canyon.
