UT Permian Basin men's soccer scored early and held a lead twice, but needed to go all 110 minutes Saturday afternoon at the UTPB Turf Field to maintain a 1-1 draw in Heartland Conference action against Rogers State.
Alejandro Mendoza got the early goal for the Falcons, scoring just 1:28 into the contest for his first of the season on a pass by
Jordan Bradley for the quick 1-0 lead.
Jake Simpson equalized for Rogers State 12 minutes later, scoring his third of the season off of a UTPB turnover.
Tainan Bagetti converted a penalty kick later in the second half after a foul in the box, his first of the season giving the Falcons back the 1-0 advantage.
But Chris Sowder scored what was to be the final goal of the day for Rogers State in the 78th minute, knocking in a header off of a corner for his second of the season for the 2-2 tie.
The Falcons out-shot Rogers State 26-19 on the day, including 7-2 in overtime as the Hillcats held a slight 11-10 shots-on-goal advantage.
