UT-Permian Basin softball kept its hot weekend alive Tuesday night, grabbing a pair of 4-3 and 12-5 wins over Sul Ross at home.
Playing from behind in the opener, UTPB evened up the Lobos as each team scored three times in the third inning. UTPB got its runs when
Miley McKee scored after a sac bunt and an error on a throw as she advanced to third.
Daisy Aguilar tied the game on her two run single through the left side of the infield to score both baserunners.
Alyssa Lene put the Falcons in the lead in the fourth with her RBI single to drive in
Zoe Murillo.
Randi May won her fourth of the season, allowing three earned runs off of six hits while allowing a pair of walks. She struck four in the complete game outing.
Game two was home run derby once again for
JJ Von Oesen. After hitting three homers this past weekend against Newman, the senior slugged two balls that left the park in the team's seven-run win over Sul Ross. She scored the team's first run on a home run down the line to left in the second, and later hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth.
The Falcons scored at least one run in each of the second through sixth innings and got runs from nine different players as six individuals ended the game with at least one RBI, led by Von Oesen with four. She led the team with three hits and six Falcons had multiple hits in game two.
UTPB returns to the road for the remainder of the season, starting this weekend as the Falcons travel to Laredo for a three-game Heartland Conference weekend at Texas A&M International.
