UTPB had its five game win streak snapped Friday afternoon, suffering a pair of three-run losses in 4-1 and 5-2 defeats at Texas A&M International.
Trailing 2-0 late in the opener, UTPB's hottest hitter over the last week,
JJ Von Oesen, cut the Dustdevils lead to one with a single to right that drove in
Melissa Zuniga.
That ended up being the Falcons lone run of the night, and Texas A&M International came back to score two more times in the bottom half of the inning to stretch out its lead to three runs.
UTPB grabbed the lead first in the back end of the doubleheader when
Daisy Aguilar hit a squeeze bunt with the bases loaded to score Zuniga from third.
Trailing 2-1 after TAMIU scored a single run in each of the first and second,
Miley McKee tied the game at 2-2 on a single into right to drive home
Mallory Hall.
Texas A&M International scored the final three runs of the day, inching ahead 3-2 in the third before adding a pair in the fifth.
Zuniga and Hall led the Falcons with a pair of hits each in the top three spots of the UTPB batting order.
The teams close out the weekend Saturday afternoon, returning to the diamond at noon.
