Tarleton State slugged its way past UT-Permian Basin softball in game one of a non-conference doubleheader, and held the Falcons to a pair of hits in game two as they defeated UTPB 12-5 and 2-0 Tuesday afternoon at the UTPB Softball Field.
Trailing 2-0, the Falcons got a run in the bottom of the second when
Zoe Murillo continued her hot streak with an RBI single through the right side of the infield to score
JJ Von Oesen.
Tarleton broke through with five runs in the fourth on three different singles, and the Falcons came back with a two-run triple into the corner off the bat of
Miley McKee.
UTPB added runs in the sixth and seventh, the first on a McKee single in the sixth and the team's fifth run on a double by
Adrianna Berzoza.
Shelby Hedrick shut the Falcons down in game two, holding UTPB to just a pair of hits by
Mallory Hall and
Analisa Fuentes while the TexAnns pushed an unearned run across the plate in each of the first two innings.
