UT-Permian Softball responded two different times after falling behind Sunday afternoon, but playing catch up took its toll after a big third inning by Rogers State put the Hillcats in the lead for good in a 14-6 defeat in Claremore, Okla.
The Falcons tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second when
Brianna Red hit an infield single with the bases loaded to score Zoe Murrilo.
After Rogers State came back with a four-run bottom of the second, UTPB came back to score three in the top of the third when Murillo came up and hit a 3-run homer to trail 5-4.
The Hillcats broke it open in its half of the third, scoring seven times with only one run being earned.
UTPB was able to add another pair of runs in the fifth when Murillo stayed hot at the plate to double in two on a hit to right center.
