UT Permian Basin shot lights out in the first half Saturday afternoon of a 75-63 win over Dallas Baptist at the UTPB Gym in Odessa.
The Falcons connected on 12 of their first 15 field goals, shooting 80 percent over the span, and led by as many as 17 points after a 15-0 run put UTPB in the lead 29-12.
UTPB finished the first half 15-23 as a team, shooting 65 percent on field goal attempts, and held a 39-30 lead at the half.
The Falcons led by double digits in the second half until late in the game when DBU closed within six points with 2:17 remaining.
UTPB hit its free throws down the stretch as DBU fowled over the final two minutes, connecting on 12-16 at the line to complete the 12-point win.
Daeshon Francis led the Falcons with 17 points on 5-9 shooting while
Johnnie Lacy added 16 points and five assists.
Sammy Allen paced the Falcons with 10 rebounds on the afternoon.
