Falcons Second in the Nation in D2 Football Attendance

Heading into its final home game of the season, UT Permian Basin football is still among the leaders nationally in football attendance in just its first year of action.

The Falcons rank second cumulatively with 51,289 total fans through six games this season, good for an average attendance of 8,548 which ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference and eighth nationally.

"Clearly, west Texans love football and our attendance numbers reflect this fact, said UTPB Athletics Director Steve Aicinena.

"It is gratifying to see where we are ranked nationally in attendance. Many people have worked very hard to make our games enjoyable to attend, from our coaching staff, to my administrative staff, and our athletes. Our band is fantastic and the cheer and dance squads help create a great atmosphere. Our tailgating activity is unrivaled anywhere within our conference… I attended each away game to gage how we compare to other venues.

"Saturday, we will honor our military in a Military Appreciation Game. I hope that football fans from throughout the Basin join the University in demonstrating its appreciation for the military."

UTPB had a season-high 13,856 fans at it's first-ever game September 3rd as the Falcons picked up their first ever win 27-6 against Sul Ross.

The Falcons close out their home season this Saturday against Texas A&M - Commerce at 7 p.m. in Ratliff Stadium. Active and retired military will receive free admission to the football game at the ticket window on the west side of Ratliff stadium between 12:00 pm and kick-off on the day of the game. A military I.D. must be shown to receive free admission.
