Sierra LaGrande shot 6-10 from 3-point range to lead the Falcons to a 69-58 win over Texas A&M International Tuesday night on the road in Laredo, Texas.
UTPB never trailed in the game after scoring the first four points of the night and led by 12 points after scoring the final six points of the half in the final 1:08 on a pair of basketbs by LeGrande and a pair at the line by
Niva Taito with a second remaining.
UTPB led by as many as 17 points after scoring the first five of the second half to lead 37-20, but the Dustdevils eventually cut the lead down to six after scoring 10 straight points and hit a pair of threes on their way to trailing 43-41 late in the third quarter, but LaGrande scored the last six points of the half on a pair from beyond the arc for a 49-41 lead after three.
Texas A&M International got within five points with five minutes remaining in the game, but
Briana Caro hit from downtown to push the lead back to eight to help the Falcons close out the 11-point victory.
LaGrande ended the night with a game-best 26 points off the bench on 9-14 shooting from the field. Caro added 15 points with three 3-pointers and four assists to tie for the team lead. Tato (11 points) and
Heather Crittenden (10 points) rounded out the Falcon starters in double-figures.
