After winning the first two sets on the road against Texas Woman's, the Pioneers seemed to grab the momentum by winning the next two to even the match, but UT Permian Basin volleyball pulled through by winning the final three points of the evening for a 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 16-4 win in Lone Star Conference action in Denton, Texas.

The teams traded a pair of points six straight times in the decisive fifth set, with Texas Woman's earning match point on a kill to lead 14-13. But MJ Damstra and Caitlyn Guajardo blocked an attack to tie the game at 14-14, and the Falcons took the lead on a kill by Mallory Nicholson. Another Damstra block, this time with Rachel Dixon, wrapped up the 16-14 set and match win.

Nicholson led all players on the night with 41 assists, her second highest total of the season in helping UTPB to 53 kills on the night. Caitlyn Guajardo led the Falcons with 14 kills, while Travanna Matthews and Kaitlyn Embrey each had double digits with 11 and 10 apiece. Sarah Vasquez led all players with 24 digs, Damstra was involved in four blocks, and Sabrina Williams had four service aces for UTPB.

UTPB is back in action Saturday afternoon, taking on Texas A&M - Commerce in Commerce, Texas at 1 p.m.
