Reigning Heartland Conference offensive player of the year
Nathan Cotterell got on the board for the first two times in 2015 Saturday night, helping the Falcons to a 2-1 win over St. Mary's in non-conference action in San Antonio.
Cotterell scored his first of the year in the 18th minute, finding the right corner of the net on a pass from
Paul Balderrama at 17:33.
He added his second just over four minutes later, taking advantage of a lapse by the St. Mary's defense to score from right in front of the net to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Aaron Dunks scored on a free kick to pull St. Mary's back within a goal at 39:03, but the Falcons kept the one-goal advantage over the remaining 51 minutes for their first win of the season.
Goalkeeper
Justin Bryant made five saves in earning his first win in UTPB colors.
The Falcons return home for their first game in Odessa next week, taking on Eastern New Mexico Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
