Box Score Men's soccer opened up its 2015 season Thursday night, suffering a 2-0 non-conference defeat at Heartland Conference opponent Texas A&M International on the road in Laredo, Texas.
The Falcons out-shot the Dustdevils on-goal 7-4 on the night despite a 15-10 shot advantage for TAMIU, but the Dustdevils took an early 1-0 lead in the 6th minute when Juan Ramirez scored on a header off of a corner kick from Abraham Lopez at 5:46.
Texas A&M International doubled up its lead at 20:18 of the first half on a chip shot from Ryan Hodgson from 12 yards out in the box.
UTPB corrected a 10-2 shot disparity in the first half, getting off eight attempts to five for TAMIU in a scoreless second 45 minutes of action.
Nathan Cotterell and
Joel Barboza each had a pair of shots on goal for UTPB in playing up top for the Falcons.
UTPB stays on the road in non-conference action against familiar foes this weekend, taking on St. Mary's Saturday at 5 p.m. in San Antonio.
