Box Score UTPB Volleyball recovered Saturday afternoon after taking the openinig two sets from Midwestern State as the Mustangs grabbed the third and fourth, but the Falcons rallied to win the fifth and take the match 25-15, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, 15-7.
UT-Permian Basin made its move in the fifth set to pull ahed 8-4 with three straight points, two coming on a kill by
Caitlyn Guajardo and an ace from Guajardo. Following a point from MSU, the Falcons rattled off four more in a row to take a commanding 12-5 advantage.
Morgann Davis ended the match with a kill to claim the 15-7 win.
Davis was one of three Falcons to end the match with double digits in kills, led by
Hannah Rebb who had a match-high 13. Davis and
Puava Tulau each added 11 on the day. Davis and Tulau led the match with seven and six blocks, respectively.
Ariana Gallardo led all players in the contest with 44 assists and 18 digs.
UTPB hit .148 in the five-set contest comparted to .049 for Midwestern State, including hitting .400 with seven kills and one error in the match-wining fifth set.
The Falcons return home this week for one match, taking on Oklahoma Panhandle State Thursday night at 7 p.m.
