TAMIU Rallies to Take Down Volleyball in Four Sets

Box Score UTPB Volleyball looked to have momentum Saturday afternoon after taking the first set and leading early in the second, but Texas A&M International rallied to pull out the last three sets of action in a 3-1 win over the Falcons in Laredo, Texas.

UT-Permian Basin hit 13 kills with just a pair of errors in the opening set, turning it on at the end of the first by scoring seven of the last nine points to take the first set 25-20.

The Falcons led 8-5 early on in the second, but the Dustdevils came back in a fury to score nine straight points to jimp ahead 14-8. UTPB never got back within five points through the rest of the second set as TAMIU won 25-16.

Following a 25-19 third set win for the home team, the Falcons rebounded after Texas A&M International started the third set up ahead 7-2, scoring eight of nine points later in the fourth to go on top 13-11. The Dustdevils once again rode a long point streak, scoring four in a row and six of seven in the last lead change of the afternoon to go ahead 17-14. UTPB closed within a point two different times, last at 19-20, but TAMIU won five of the final six points in the 25-20 win over UTPB to close out the match.

Brittney Griffith led the Falcons with 11 kills in the match, as Anilese Sanchez reached double digits with 10 kills. Ariana Gallardo had 20 assists for the Falcons and Marina Salazar led all players in the contest with 22 digs.

The Falcons return to face Wayland Baptist Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the team's 2015 home opener.
