#21 St. Mary's left the yard four different times Friday afternoon in the first elimination game of the weekend to hand UTPB Baseball its second loss of the weekend 9-3 and eliminate the Falcons from the 2015 Heartland Conference Baseball Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
Trailing 2-0, the Falcons came back to the contest at 2-2 when
Jose Sierra and
Randal Toribio each had RBI singles in the bottom of the second.
The Rattlers responded in the top of the third with three home runs as Derek Hamilton, Matt Smith and Mario Maldonado each went deep to go on top 6-2.
Alfred Iturralde got one back for UTPB in the bottom half of the frame, hitting a double into left to score
Matt Reyes in what ended up being the team's final run of the day.
Brooks Orton added a fourth homer for St. Mary's in the fifth, and he scored the game's last run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single.
Cody Butler went the distance for St. Mary's, returning after a two-hour rain delay to finish the complete game win.
Daniel Andrade had a pair of hits for UTPB as nine different Falcons had a share of the team's 10 hits on the day.
