Angelo State Scores Late in 10-2, 4-3 Road Losses

Angelo State made its final trips to the plate count Wednesday night, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth in game one in a 10-2 win and rallying with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 4-3 defeat of UTPB softball at Mayer Field in San Angelo, Texas.

The Falcons led early on, taking a 1-0 lead in the third when Irene Valdez reached on an error to score Niki DiSera.

After an unearned run in the fourth for the Rambelles, the Falcons added a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings on RBI hits from Nikki Salazar and Adrianna Berzoza to go ahead 3-1.

ASU closed within a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single back up the middle and won the game on a two-run double into center.

The Falcons had led early on in the first game of the day when Ashlynn Williams and Miley McKee each drove in a run on base hits in the top of the third to go on top 2-1.

Angelo State scored two in the bottom half of the inning to go back on top 3-2, and scored six more in the bottom of the sixth to end the opener 10-2 after six innings.

The Falcons are back in Heartland Conference action this weekend, traveling to San Antonio for a four-game series at St. Mary's Friday and Saturday afternoons.
