UTPB softball fell twice to one of the best teams in the country Friday night, dropping a pair of 6-1 and 8-0 decisions to #7 St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas.
The Falcons fell behind 4-0 early in the opener as the Ratters went deep in each of the first two innings.

St. Mary's added a run in each the fifth and six innings to close out the five-run win.
The Rattlers blanked UTPB in game two, holding the Falcons scoreless as they scored in each of the first four innings.
Irene Valdez led a Falcon offense that ended the game with seven total hits with a 3-3 night at the top of the lineup to increase her team-leading batting average up to .350 on the season.
The teams close out the four-game set Saturday morning, starting with a third conference game at 11 a.m. followed by a fourth non-conference tilt to follow.
