UTPB softball scored five times in the final two innings Monday afternoon as the Falcons came-from-behind for a 5-4 win against Sul Ross State at the UTPB Softball Field in Odessa.
Trailing 4-1, the Falcons erased the Lobo lead when Irene Valdez and Nikki Salazar each started off the bottom of the six with a single to reach base, Valdez scoring on Salazar's single up the middle.
Kimberlie Herrera later scored from first when Adrianna Berzoza doubled down the left field line into the corner, and Berzoza tied the game when Taylor Clancy drew a third straight walk with two outs to walk in the tying run and even the game at 4-4.
Miley McKee led off the bottom of the seventh with a single up the middle and moved into scoring position on an error on the play. She advanced to third when Salazar hit a bunt up the middle to reach first, and McKee scored the winning run a batter later on a deep single over the right fielder's head by Mallory Hall for the 5-4 win.
Salazar and Berzoza each had a pair of hits, while Berzoza scored twice in the game.
Kim Alonzo picked up the complete game win, giving up one earned run off of eight hits while walking none. She struck out three on the afternoon.
The Lobos earlier won the opening game of the day 1-0 on a first inning single by Destanie Hernandez that scored Jessica Castellano. Sul Ros then held the Falcons scoreless on five hits over the next seven innings.
UTPB is back on the road this week, traveling to San Angelo Wednesday afternoon for two games against Angelo State.
